May I help you?

Hello all beautiful people out there!!

It is finally so good to be back here after a long break. It’s been ages since I have actually sat down to write about so many ideas which have popped into my head. Hope you all are having a great time!

New phase of life, new location, new culture, new language and a chance to see new faces everyday makes you wonder how beautiful life has been and how blessed we are. Believe it or not, we are blessed! But one thing that does not change is the human nature. And today we are going to talk about something that this world really needs a lot – “A helping hand!”

Altruism post 1

We all have been in one or another situation or watched a video over social media where a simple gesture like picking up something from the floor for an aged person or pregnant woman is “highlighted” as being helpful. Sure it is a helping hand, but I believe these feelings and gestures should be inbuilt in our system. How else can we create a world where people can lean on each other and walk progressively?

I am thankful for everything that I am blessed with in this life. And the only way to have a greater feeling inside is by giving it back in some way or the other, by helping someone to feel positive, think positive and by helping someone embrace life with its wonderful colours.

My mentor once asked me to write something special about this topic- Altruism. God bless him, for he has propelled a ripple in the right direction.

The meaning of altruism is disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others”. How simple yet, significant! There are some beautiful words from the book I am currently reading written by His Holiness The Dalai Lama called the Awakening the mind, Lightening the heart. It truly resonates so much with the thought behind this post. This book is crux of the Buddhism beliefs and how to actually start practicing it. But more importantly it talks about the most important virtue of mankind, which is, Altruism.

One of the excerpts from the book:
“We are essentially social animals depending on others to meet our needs. We achieve happiness, prosperity, and progress through social interaction. Therefore, a kind and helpful attitude is the source of happiness.”

The natural urge to help fellow beings in problem or simply showing them a direction where they can find solution is something that everybody possesses variably, of course! We all have seen the world enough to recall the fact that not everyone will act upon this urge. But I have a strong belief that a small gesture of kindness and a helping hand can do wonders for a being who is in need of it.

So today, I want you all to take a moment and think in ways we can help others. Is there something that you thought of doing for someone but then got busy with life? Is there something that you ca do to make someone’s life easier? Something that will simply make a helpless person smile? Today is the day to go for it. To actually do!

In the end, I would like to quote these beautiful lines from the book:
“Trying to benefit others, directly or indirectly, using the full potential of your body, speech and mind, is what makes your life meaningful. Therefore, even if you are unable to achieve any benefit yet, at least keep up the effort. It is even worth imagining that you are performing beneficial activities.”

Hope this post gave you something to think and work upon. Have a great day ahead guys!!
